July 20 updatesGenetically speaking I think I've hit the jackpot! I have been dealing with some pretty nasty headaches over the past month, month and a half. The kind of headaches that wake you up in the middle of the night - and the ones that make you want to wear sunglasses in the house. You know the kind of headaches that generally make living rather miserable - and I'd be willing to make a bet that they are making living with me rather miserable too. My mom had horrible headaches during her college years, and every now and again when she was pregnant. The one day they simply went away. Her father, my grandpa Alvin also had headaches so bad that he'd lay in a dark room for days - then one day they simply went away. My dad, headaches too - they too have went away. I can't help but ask the million dollar question "when are mine going to go away?" I've been doing a lot of reading and research about headaches - this past cycle has been primarily cluster headaches, and not a migraine. Amazing how uneducated I have been about headaches - considering how much time I've spent with the neurologist over the past few years. I can't get into see my neurologist until the 25th of August - unless of course things change. I am going to use the time to my advantage if I can, and keep a very accurate headache journal. The medications I've had are all for migraines, but I really don't think that is what is going on right now, after what I've read. I am fairly sure that a lot of it is related to hormones. Since 2005 the headaches have hit this time of year, and last for weeks and weeks - so weather patterns is another thing to consider as a trigger. I have wonderful friends who've suggested things like massage, acupuncture, chiropractic treatments. To be honest I have no issues with trying a different route than pills so to speak - I just want one that works. One of my tasks on Monday is to call my insurance company and get a listing of what practices in my area are in network - so I can give one of these a try, or all of them a try. Thea has started her summer dance classes. She is just taking one this summer. (I know, you'd think she'd die.) She is in a very small class, and happily is dancing. She does Tap and Ballet on Tuesday mornings. I am not sure if she is going to take a broadway class this summer, it kind of depends on our summer lake plans. I would like to get out to the lake for a week again before the summer is over. Thea dances, and loves it. She was involved in a photo shoot nearly two weeks ago for the dance studio's fall promotional materials. I am looking forward to seeing them, and getting my hands on some of the shots that were used for her scrap book. (And G's too.) Grace had her first night in a big girl bed. Yes the day has finally come where she will sleep in a bed and not have to get back into her crib. She laid next to Thea all night and when she woke up she was very proud that she did in fact sleep in a big girl bed. Now if we can convince her she doesn't need a nukie, and can poot on the pot I'd be set! Grace is looking forward to dancing again this fall.... and I am excited for her. She too loves to be a ballerina. June 15 dance recital 2008![]() Thea getting ready for the big show, and her sister "me too" Erick and I volunteered at the first show, and decided that before the second show we should have a drink. The kids did a great job, I ordered the DVD, so in a matter of a few weeks I'll upload some dances to youtube and share them. Between shows we all went to Green Mill and had some appetizers and some of us had margaritas. Thea had the chance to sit and tell my dad all about the show, everything from how many practices they had, what costumes she liked best, and how big he makes her heart swell when he waves at her when she dances. We scarfed and ran back to the theater where we went through the whole process on the other side of the stage. ![]() Thea blowing a kiss before the make-up stage of dancer development The second show was long.... so long that during Thea's first dance she yawned. The kids were tired... very determined, very happy, very beautiful too. Thea did a wonderful job on her favorite dance, Shining Star, and even started lip syncing to the song. I wish I could recall every moment, but I can't. I didn't cry too much, just a few times. I was so proud of our dancers, and how hard they worked. Sitting on the other side of the stage gave both Erick an I a better view of the dance production. This dance studio's dance production is 100% dad powered. They do the prop work, the stage hand work, lights, door men, ticketing, security.... this show would not happen if those dad's didn't make it happen. The dance dad's traditionally start up the second act - this year they did "Sharp Dressed Man" and it was WONDERFUL! After the show we all went to Ruby Tuesdays and had dinner... we came home and got those babies to bed! ![]() being silly at Green Mill with Grandpa ![]() after the 3rd show ice cream treats! And the rest they say is history... beautiful shows, beautiful ballerinas, a wonderful night. ![]() Happy Fathers Day to the best dad in the world! Love you!!! June 12 last call![]() Nina & Thea Nina and Thea have worked very hard on dance this year, and the dance recital is right around the corner. If you are still interested in going please send me an email and I will hook you up with a ticket. Shows are going to be held at the Eagan High School on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday the shows are at 2 pm and at 7:30pm, and Sunday at 3pm. The girls dance in all 3 shows, and it will be a fun and wonderful dance production. :) Thea and Nina are very excited for the show and it means a lot to them that their loved ones are going to be there to cheer them on. As with other years flowers will be sold at the start of the show for your dancer, and seating starts about a half hour before show time. See you there! dance dance dance![]() Thea with friend Grace H. from her Saturday am classes. ![]() Thea with Miss Kaitlyn after her last dance practice.
